CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Judge Missy Medary is keeping strict monitoring in place for Amanda Talbert, a former Annaville bar owner accused in a human-trafficking case.

Talbert is accused of helping an elderly man, Noraier George Manassian, lure students from Tuloso-Midway to hotels for sex. The allegations involve multiple victims.

In court Thursday, Talbert’s attorney, former Nueces County District Attorney Mark Gonzalez, requested that her ankle monitor be removed, citing her compliance with all court rules and her struggle to afford the $150 monthly monitoring fee. Gonzalez emphasized her good behavior while under supervision and asked for a reduction or removal of the device.

Judge Medary said the seriousness of the allegations and the involvement of multiple victims still require strict supervision to ensure the safety of the community. Rather than change any conditions, she directed the case to move forward and set a trial date.

While Talbert is no longer running her business, she remains under strict supervision as the legal process continues.
