TEXAS — As Texas metro areas continue to grow, costs for everything from housing to groceries have seen a significant increase. Many Texans are working with the goal of comfortable living, and a new report from Upgraded Points has revealed the income needed for just that.

For Texas as a whole, a salary of $96,506 is needed for one adult to live comfortably. For two adults and no children, a joint income of $125,702 is needed. The salary for two adults and one child is $168,583; the salary for two adults and two children is $202,510; the salary for two adults and three children is $241,311.

In the Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos area, the required salaries are higher, beginning with $114,659 for one adult to live comfortably. The combined salary needed for two adults with no children to live comfortably is $146,151. Then, the salaries are $197,755, $241,436 and $289,037 for one child, two children and three children, respectively.

Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington area salaries are just below Austin’s with $107,061 for one adult and $137,978 for two adults. Two adults with one child need $184,228; two adults with two children need $220,982; two adults with three children need $264,534.

Required salaries for comfortable living continue to drop in Houston and San Antonio areas. In Houston-Pasadena-The Woodlands, one adult needs a salary of $93,818 and two adults with no children need $122,815. For two adults with one child, the salary is $165,971. For two children it’s $200,036 and for three children it’s $238,393.

For the San Antonio-New Braunfels area, a salary of $93,355 is needed for one adult, a salary of $122,436 is needed for two adults with no children; $167,102 is needed for two adults with one child; $199,905 is needed for two adults with two children; $235,693 for two adults with three children.
