Three Plano restaurants were temporarily closed, and their food permits were suspended due to serious health hazards during recent inspections, city records show.

The reports compiled by the Star-Telegram include health violations from Sept. 21 through Oct. 11, the result of 140 inspections.

Plano’s restaurant inspections function on a 100-point system: A score of 100 is considered perfect and a score of 70 is considered extremely poor.

Plano restaurants temporarily closed after health inspections

Smokin Grill, at 3611 14th St., Suite 110, was temporarily closed after health inspectors observed roaches, the eatery did not have proper handwashing facilities and no designated person in charge onsite. The food permit of the establishment was suspended with all business operations ordered to immediately cease with a low score of 58.

West African Way, at 1405 Jupiter Road, Suite 116, was temporarily closed after health inspectors observed that the restaurant did not have proper sewage disposal facilities, and had inadequate cold holding facilities which would cause an immediate public health hazard. The food permit for this establishment was suspended with all business operations ordered to immediately cease. The restaurant scored 63.

Zaza Thai, at 3421 Renner Road, Suite 106, had a follow-up inspection; however, health inspectors noted that no violations noted in the prior report had been corrected. The facility did not have a designated person in charge onsite to oversee the food service operation and provide active managerial control, officials suspended the food permit and ordered all business operations to cease immediately. The eatery scored 78.

In addition to Smokin Grill, roaches were observed at Minerva Banquet Hall & Catering, at 3825 W. Spring Creek Parkway, Suite 20, with a score of 79.

Seven Plano restaurants scored below 80 on inspections

Peacock Indian Cuisine, at 8500 Ohio Drive, Suite 100. Score: 66.

Uni Sushi, at 1410 K Ave., Suite 1109B. Score: 68.

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, at 3435 E. Renner Road. Score: 70.

Sazon De Loa, at 3421 E. Renner Road, Suite 113. Score: 72.

Valerie’s Taco Shop, at 1130 N. Central Expressway. Score: 77.

Zenna Thai And Japanese, at 2500 N. Central Expressway. Score: 77.

Eat Street Indian Kitchen, at 3948 Legacy Drive, Suite 112. Score: 79.
