The Dallas Wings won big at the WNBA draft lottery on Sunday night, securing the No. 1 pick in the 2026 draft.

Dallas had a 42% chance — the No. 1 odds — to win the lottery, and the team did so for a second consecutive year. The Wings secured the top pick in 2024 and selected Paige Bueckers No. 1 overall in the 2025 WNBA draft.

Securing another No. 1 pick should bode well for the Wings, who finished 10-34 in 2025 under first-year coach Chris Koclanes and 9-31 the previous season. Now, with newly-hired coach Jose Fernandez, Dallas hopes to build around Bueckers, the 2025 WNBA Rookie of the Year.

Spanish center Awa Fam is the projected No. 1 pick in ESPN’s 2026 WNBA mock draft. Other top prospects include UCLA’s Lauren Betts, TCU’s Olivia Miles and UConn’s Azzi Fudd. Fudd and Bueckers, who won a national championship together at UConn last season, are dating.

Entering Sunday, Dallas had the rights to three first-round draft selections over the next two years, including a lottery pick in 2026.

The draft lottery took place amid negotiations between the WNBA and the players’ union over a new collective bargaining agreement. The deadline for negotiations was extended from Oct. 31 to Nov. 30.
