SAVANNAH, Ga. — Texas A&M volleyball had a rough start to its quarterfinal match against the Vanderbilt Commodores but they eventually found its rhythm.Â
The first set had 10 ties and saw the Commodores take the lead twice after a few touches went awry for the Aggies. But A&M kept swinging with a .324% in the first set behind six kills from Logan Lednicky and five from Ifenna Cos-Okpalla.

After a historic season for Texas A&M volleyball, the No. 2 seed Aggies will finally take the court in the first SEC Volleyball Tournament in 20 years against the No. 15 seed, Vanderbilt.Â
The No. 6 Aggies’ finished second in the SEC, their best conference finish since 1984. A&M (22-3, 14-1) also had its best conference regular-season record since 2015, when it finished 24-7.Â
The Commodores are in the midst of a historic season of their own, since volleyball is back in Nashville, Tenn. for the first time in 45 years. Vanderbilt (9-17, 3-12) was swept by Texas A&M in a September match. Since then, the Commodores have been building and beat their last two opponents in the tournament (Mississippi State and Georgia) to reach the quarterfinal round.Â

FINAL: Texas A&M 3, Vanderbilt 0
Set 3: Texas A&M 27, Vanderbilt 25
Stowers wins a joust to make it 23-17. Vanderbilt isn’t going away and finds the open floor and trade points. An A&MÂ challenge is upheld after Vanderbilt did not touch the ball. The Commodores earned four straight points that erased a 24-18Â defecit to get within two points. An offspeed Vanderbilt kill gets them within one and they tie the match with a kill that could not be dug up. A Vanderbilt kill last touched Underwood who could not dig it up but Stowers goes line to tie the match at 25. A Commodore service ace gives match point to the Aggies that finish with a block to sweep the Commodores.Â

Set 3: Texas A&M 20, Vanderbilt 15
Two Vanderbilt hitting errors, followed by a Cos-Okpalla ace forced the Commodores timeout. A Vanderbilt kill goes to the middle to make it 19-15 but the Aggies find the redzone thanks to a Vanderbilt service error.Â
Set 3: Texas A&M 16, Vanderbilt 12
Vanderbilt goes on a 2-0 run of its own but Cos-Okpalla and Lednicky kills keep the Commodores down.Â

Set 3: Texas A&M 13, Vanderbilt 10Â Â
Hellmuth serves A&M’s 15th service error of the match. A&M’s block comes alive to get them out of a three-point deficit caused by Vanderbilt tooling the A&M block. Aggies go on a 4-0 to retake the lead, forcing a Commodores timeout.Â
Set 3: Texas A&M 4, Vanderbilt 4
Aggies trade aces with Vanderbilt. The Commodores go on a 3-1 lead and tie the game with an A&M block.Â

Set 2: Texas A&M 25, Vanderbilt 21
Hellmuth, who had six kills in the set, leads the 5-3 run for the Aggies to take set two.Â
Set 2: Texas A&M 20, Vanderbilt 18
In a 4-1 Aggies run, Stowers has been on fire delivering an ace that found line to force a Vanderbilt time out. A Stowers service error gets Vanderbilt within one, but Lednicky tools the block to get the Aggies into the red zone.Â

A Hellmuth kill gives Texas A&M its first lead since the opening points.
Set 2: Vanderbilt 13, Texas A&M 13
After a few back and forth points, Lednicky’s high kill finds Commodore fingers to tie the match. Vanderbilt’s hitting percentage has improved, from .189 to .294, this set which has been given the Aggies some trouble.Â

Much like set one, A&M got to an early lead but Vanderbilt service pressure tied the match and a Stowers ace gives Vanderbilt a lead. A&M responds with a block.Â
Set 1: Texas A&M 25, Vanderbilt 21
Cos-Okpalla blocks a Vanderbilt kill to set up service for Waak. A four-touch call on A&M gives a point to Vanderbilt who follows up with a kill that bangs Cos-Okpalla’s arms. The Texas A&M middle blocker kills for set point but Vanderbilt responds with a kill. A Stowers kill gives the Aggies the first set win.Â

A Stowers kill touches the high fingers of the Vanderbilt block and puts the Aggies in the red zone. A Vanderbilt attack error goes wide.Â

Commodores continue to pressure A&M on the service line but an attack error gives the Aggies a one point edge as they close in on the red zone.Â
