RIDGELAND, Miss. (WLBT) – A former Ridgeland Police chief has passed away.
After retiring as chief of Ridgeland police in 2014, Jimmy Houston took a position at Holmes Community College as the head of the criminal justice department.
According to current Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers, Houston “was a great law enforcement officer, leader, husband, father and grandfather.”
He served as chief in Ridgeland for 12 years, having previously served 24 years with the Jackson Police Department.
Chief Myers said Houston died of natural causes. He was 73 years old.
