James Sanderson, who serves as both the Evangelism Minister at the Brown Street Church of Christ and as the Chaplain for the Waxahachie Police Department, explained the significance of charity in Christian terms: “Being in these two unique positions, I have a first-hand picture of the needs our community goes through when hard times befall them. The church and the police department work closely together to help those in need, and we have seen our numbers more than double since the shutdown. In times like this, I encourage all believers to reflect on scripture. In Matthew 25, Jesus foretells that the righteous will ask, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you a drink?’ Then, the Lord will answer them, ‘Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.’ As Proverbs 3:9 commands, ‘Honor the Lord with your possessions and with the first fruits of all your increase.’ Thank you so very much for all the agencies and individuals that help us supply this food!”
