Northwest Harris County neighborhood ravaged by tornado; homes damaged but residents safe

  • November 24, 2025

SPRING, Texas – A fast-moving tornado swept through a northwest Harris County neighborhood Monday afternoon, causing significant damage but no reported injuries.

Residents in Spring said the storm hit “in about 30 seconds,” tearing apart garages, ripping off roof sections and shattering windows.

During the storm, a viewer’s cell phone video captured what appeared to be a tornado forming as the storm moved through multiple neighborhoods.

One of the hardest-hit areas was near Summer Grove Circle, where families began cleanup amid the sound of generators and chainsaws.

KPRC 2 News Reporter Bryce Newberry was at the scene, observing the destruction, including a home where the entire garage collapsed and shifted, scattering stored items across the yard.

One homeowner, a barber, told Bryce his heavy barber chairs were tossed outside. The metal garage door was twisted, and wires that once connected the structure now hung across the walkway into the backyard.

He said he was inside with two young children when the storm hit. He described a sudden pressure change so intense their ears popped, followed by a roar “like a loud train whistle.”

Behind the house, a back window was blown out so forcefully that the family’s Christmas tree ended up hanging out of it, tangled in mangled blinds. Patio furniture was flipped, ornaments scattered across the yard, and a fence between properties was completely torn out.

Roofs of multiple homes throughout the block suffered damage, and several large trees were knocked down. A constable deputy from Mark Herman’s office was seen cutting through a fallen tree to reach homes.

Neighbors walked the block with chainsaws offering help, while emergency crews moved through the area to check on residents.

Despite the destruction, authorities reported no known injuries as of Monday afternoon.

With the holidays approaching, the barber and his family are already searching for another place to stay due to extensive roof and window damage. Crews remain in the area as residents assess the damage and plan next steps.
