There’s an exciting new place to get pizza in Euless: Called Pizzeria Sprezza, it’s a father-and-son operation at 1310 Chisholm Trail #800, at the Glade Parks shopping center, in a space previously occupied by Midici Pizza.

Sprezza is from Siverio Alfieri, a native of Italy who has been in the restaurant business for decades. Originally from Saviano, a city outside Naples, he moved to Long Island where he opened a restaurant named for his hometown. He later relocated to Euless, where he opened a second location of Saviano’s in 1992.

Sprezza is a pizza-centric concept he’s doing in a partnership with his son Anthony, who worked at Saviano’s as a teen. Father and son can be seen making the pies, doing what they love: sharing their passion for authentic Neapolitan food and good wine.

Siverio shops daily for the restaurant himself. He does his rounds early in the morning and picks fresh ingredients from several shops, including sausage from Jimmy’s Italian Store. Many ingredients come from Italy, such as the flour, olive oil, and tomatoes, which they crush by hand to make the pizza sauce. They grow their own basil and peppers and make their mozzarella in house.

This detailed approach to each ingredient results in a delicately crafted crispy pizza. Prices range from $13 to $22 for 12” pies, with varieties such as Margherita, Prosciutto Arugula, Sausage & Peppers, and Vesuvio, with spicy soppressata and bacon marmalade. They have not one but two wood-fired ovens, made in Italy by acclaimed manufacturer Acunto, to withstand temperatures of 1000 degrees.

The rest of the menu includes appetizers such as meatballs, Caesar salad, a spaghettini entrée, and a Jimmy’s sausage peppers medley with slow-simmered Italian Sunday sauce. The bar serves beer and wine, including an assortment of Italian and Californian labels. Desserts include cannoli and tiramisu.

The dining room has several tables as well as a 22-seat bar. There’s a patio in front as well as a large dog-friendly outdoor area with turf.

While some of their customers have come from Saviano’s, they’re also attracting a new crowd, Alfieri says.

“We are seeing familiar faces from Saviano’s but also new customers who have found a home with us,” he says. “We do things right and we care, and I think that shows in our product and service.”
