LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – ClearTech Aviation School has become a Cirrus Training Center after adding a new, advanced aircraft to its collection.
The flight school is now the only Cirrus Training Center within a 450 nautical mile range, or 517 miles.
Chief Flight Instructor Brady Moyers said the Cirrus aircraft is one of the safest options for flying. The addition opens new training opportunities for aspiring pilots across West Texas.
Moyers said newer aircraft with advanced technology can be easier for today’s students to learn on compared to older planes.

“There’s a stigma around that an older plane can traditionally be better to learn in, I beg to differ,” Moyers said. “I think using the technology and especially with the generation now who’s grown up with technology essentially their whole life this becomes a breeze. The transition is seamless and just the ability to adapt and fly an aircraft of this caliber, it’s a lot easier than people think.”
Students are allowed to rent the aircraft for private, instrument or commercial training. Moyers said he hopes to serve all of New Mexico and West Texas, as well as Dallas and Oklahoma.
