FRISCO — Thanksgiving Day offers a game between the Cowboys and Chiefs.

But it’s also a game within a game for East Texas.

Chiefs quarterback Pat Mahomes was born in Tyler and went to Whitehouse High School.

Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, also born in Tyler, went to Arp High School.

Overshown said Thursday’s game is the battle of the 903 area codes.

“Crazy thing is, I went to Whitehouse in elementary [school] so the varsity football players will come to the elementary and see the kids,” Overshown said Tuesday. “Pat was actually in high school. It was a couple times he came to the elementary. His brother Jackson and his cousin Emma, we were all in the same class. I actually grew up with them. I know the Mahomes real well, that family real well.”

Overshown said during interviews at the Scouting Combine when he was coming out from Texas, that he either wanted to play with Mahomes or against him.

Now that he’ll see him on the field Thursday, Overshown is hopeful to get a sack.

“I got to, it’s mandatory,” he said. “East Texas been talking about it since the schedule popped up. It’s 903. We going at it, somebody got to win it.”

Mahomes told reporters on Tuesday he’s got a suite for the game and “there’s no tickets left, that’s all I know.”

Overshown was asked if he has Mahomes’ voice in his head?

“I ain’t got his voice in my head,” he said. “I know the voice, he going to know mine [when] I’m going to chase him.”
