LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – More than 150 small businesses from Lubbock and the surrounding area are preparing for the biggest shopping weekend of the year at KK’s Corner Mall.
The mall features vendors selling everything from clothing to home decor, natural products, artisan crafts and kitchen supplies.
“We really are like one big family,” said Kristi Frazier, who does KK’s marketing.
Some of the mall’s vendors offer gift baskets, engraving and monogramming services for shoppers. Vendors will offer specials and discounted booths from Black Friday through Small Business Saturday and Sunday.
Frazier says shopping at the mall supports real people in the community, including a nurse who uses her booth as a side business and a woman with cancer who relies on sales for income.
“It matters because it’s their job, and so just like we have jobs, this is their job,” Frazier said. “And whether it means extra money for their kids for sports, for food, for bills, whatever, it’s their job. But when you support local, it keeps your money local.”
Frazier says the vendors understand customers face rising costs in their everyday lives and work to keep prices fair.
“So, it’s not like you’re going to walk in and get price-gouged. Everybody is very conscious of it, they really want to make sure that they keep the prices, you know, equal and good,” she said.
She said KK’s Corner Mall has maintained steady business as a Lubbock staple.
“People just know us, and so when they come in, we haven’t really missed a beat. And I’m so thankful for that,” Frazier said. “So, if I could say anything to the people of Lubbock and surrounding, thank you. Because it really, it helps support my family.”
