Applications are now open for Collin County residents who wish to serve as commissioners on Emergency Services District 1, created by voters in the Nov. 4 election.
County Administrator Yoon Kim said at the Monday, Nov. 17, meeting of the Collin County Commissioners Court that there was a statutory timeline for canvassing votes, entering the court’s creation order, and appointing the initial governing board.
Kim said the election culminated a process that began in February, when citizens submitted a petition requesting the formation of an emergency services district.
The petition was filed with the county clerk Feb. 20 and formally presented to the Commissioners Court four days later, prompting the court to set a public hearing.
