Linebacker Rocky Cummings announced his commitment to Texas football via social media Wednesday afternoon.

Cummings, a three-star recruit, had previously been pledged to Cal, which fired its coach earlier this week.

Listed at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, Cummings is considered the No. 600 overall prospect in the Class of 2026 by the 247Sports Composite. He’s the No. 50 linebacker and the No. 44 recruit in the state of California.

Cummings had been committed to play for the Golden Bears since June. Texas extended him an offer Nov. 7, and he took an official visit to Austin two weeks later.

He’s the third linebacker to join Texas’ 2026 recruiting class, alongside four-star prospects Tyler Atkinson and Kosi Okpala.

Texas’ class, which has added a trio of three-star prospects in the last week, ranks as the No. 8 class in the country and the No. 4 class in the SEC.
