HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Thanksgiving plans became complicated this year for families after two tornadoes hit the area Monday, disrupting holiday celebrations.
While some made reservations at local restaurants, others received surprise deliveries of Thanksgiving supplies.
It wasn’t much — just a brown bag filled with Thanksgiving basics — but for those receiving it, the thought and kindness behind it made all the difference.

“Hello, we wanted to bring you Thanksgiving dinner,” said Clayton Townsend.
Clayton Townsend and David Sanchez, local roofers who grew up in the community, spent the day going door to door delivering meals. They said their efforts were strictly about helping others, not work.
“We’re giving them stuffing, potatoes, you got everything to make casserole, all the fixings, chicken, sweet potatoes. We even got them $25 gift cards to HEB so they can go and get a turkey,” Townsend said.
They partnered with Church Project Tomball and Honor Society Coffee Co. to provide the meals.
The response from residents was emotional.
“I’m trying not to cry right now, it’s very sweet. Luckily nobody was hurt so I appreciate the gift here,” said Karrie Colson.
Thanks to the help, Thanksgiving is once again back on for many families.
Townsend said that on top of the food delivery, he and his friends and colleagues also tarped about 35 roofs and helped cut up about 25 trees — all free of charge — to help people get back on their feet.
