While most quarterback roles are reserved for junior and seniors, there are a few underclassmen in the Dallas area that have earned the starting spot.

Here are the eight underclassmen quarterbacks taking snaps in Class 6A:

Isaiah Taylor

Keller Central, Sophomore

Through seven games, Taylor has 989 passing yards and eight touchdowns, going 71-for-122. He’s pushed Keller Central to a 4-3 record. The three-star is also a top-15 cornerback nationally in the Class of 2028.

Kalika Nisa

V.R. Eaton, Sophomore

During his sophomore campaign, Nisa has 747 passing yards and five touchdowns. Eaton is 3-3 this season.

Carter Zingelmann

Coppell, Sophomore

In five games of work, Zingelmann has 783 passing yards and six touchdowns completing 54 of his 78 pass attempts. Coppell is third in District 5-6A, only losing one game this season behind Zingelmann.

Major Smith

McKinney Boyd, Sophomore

Smith has 614 passing yards and seven touchdowns this season. He’s completed 59 of his 107 passing attempts.

CJ Smith

Plano, Sophomore

Smith has 495 passing yards and three touchdowns, leading Plano to a 3-3 record. He’s gone 44-for-68 during his first year on varsity.

Chase Devoll

Arlington Martin, Sophomore

Devoll has 809 passing yards and 11 touchdowns this year. He pulses the offense in his first season on varsity.

Ja’Ki Robinson

Garland Naaman Forest, Sophomore

In his sophomore season, Robinson has 716 yards and eight touchdowns, leading Naaman Forest to a 4-2 record. Naaman Forest has only one loss in District 9-6A.

Temiloluwa Akinola

Skyline, Sophomore

Akinola is the only underclassmen in District 11-6A, also known as the “District of Doom.” He has 403 yards and three touchdowns this season.
