LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Kyle Rable, a U.S. Army Reserve captain and Ph.D. candidate at Texas Tech, has announced his intention to run for Texas’ 19th Congressional District seat.
Rable made his announcement in May, before Rep. Jodey Arrington announced he would not seek re-election. Rable is the only candidate to file for the Democratic primary so far.
The candidate said both parties have taken West Texas for granted and promised to put the South Plains first if elected.
“I have an eight month old son and I could talk about the price of formula and how it’s gone through the roof, I could talk about the price of diapers or the price of gas, the price and 10% increase on our Thanksgiving this year,” Rable said. “Workers are losing out on jobs and our cotton farmers, 63% of our cotton farmers are making less than $10,000 a year. My message is simply this: aren’t you tired of not having enough out here in West Texas? I think it’s time our working class and our farmers have a say in our congress.”
