We’ve made it, folks. No. 3 Texas A&M (11-0, 7-0 SEC) has arrived in Austin, Texas, set to face the No. 16-ranked Texas Longhorns (8-3, 5-2) in the annual Lone Star Showdown on Friday night. Throw bragging rights out of the window, as the Aggies are looking to finish 12-0, while earning the program’s first trip to the SEC Championship Game.
Texas is holding out hope that it can sneak into the College Football Playoff with a win, while needing several SEC teams to lose, which doesn’t seem highly likely. However, crazier things have happened during Rivalry Week, and if the Longhorns fail to make the cut, defeating the No. 3 team before heading to a bowl game is always a solid way to end an up-and-down season.
The Aggies are determined to end the regular season with some sweet revenge against their bitter rival, especially after falling to Texas 17-7 in Kyle Field last season. As simple as it may sound, this game will come down to the turnover differential, Texas A&M’s elite pass rush against Texas’s shaky offensive line, and forcing QB Arch Manning into challenging situations.
However, this could also come down to which quarterback produces the most explosive plays, and star quarterback Marcel Reed has yet to have a terrible game this season, outside of poor starts, which must be avoided.

Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed nearly suffered a serious ankle injury, but returned after a brief stay on the sideline, and looked much better in the second quarter.

Both teams trade punts to open the game (10:12 1Q)
Both offenses came out too juiced, leading to back-to-back punts. However, QB Marcel Reed needs to settle in early to avoid playing from behind.
