Alabama can clinch a berth in the SEC championship game by beating Auburn on Saturday night, but it wouldn’t be facing Texas A&M in Atlanta.

Should the Crimson Tide reach the SEC title game, it would face Georgia at Mercedes Benz Stadium. Texas A&M’s 27-17 loss to Texas on Friday night put the Bulldogs (11-1, 7-1) in the conference championship game and also eliminated the Aggies (11-1, 7-1).

If Alabama (9-2, 6-1) were to lose to Auburn on Saturday night, Ole Miss (11-1, 7-1) would slide into the SEC championship game against Georgia. The Crimson Tide and Tigers meet at 6:30 p.m. Central Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium, with television coverage on ABC.

Alabama has the head-to-head tiebreaker on Georgia (based on a 24-21 win in Athens on Sept. 27), but did not play Ole Miss or Texas A&M. However, because of the Crimson Tide’s superior conference opponents’ winning percentage, it would win tiebreakers over the Rebels and Aggies.

Georgia — which is in the SEC championship game for the fifth straight time — beat Ole Miss head-to-head (43-35 on Oct. 18 in Athens), but also did not play Texas A&M. The Bulldogs would also slot ahead of the Aggies based on conference opponents’ winning percentage.

Alabama and Georgia previously faced off in the SEC championship game in 2012, 2018, 2021 and 2023, with the Crimson Tide winning all four times. Neither Ole Miss nor Texas A&M has ever played in the SEC title game.

The 2025 SEC championship game is set for 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, on ABC.
