I’m not exactly an early Christmas shopper; in fact, I usually wait until the last minute. Luckily for me, there’s always a great local place that I can go to to grab something thoughtful my family and friends with love.

Why Shopping Local Matters More Than Ever in Lubbock

More and more local places (both locally owned and local brick-and-mortar chains) have gone extinct in recent years- unable to weather slow times brought on by consumers spending online, or simply having less of a budget to go around. That’s why I believe we should all commit to spending a portion of our holiday budget locally now, before it all evaporates online.

You’ve probably heard that local business is the backbone of any city’s economy, because it’s true. It improves the “velocity of money” in our local economic environment, which basically means that money stays in our area and stays moving around in our area, quite possibly right back to you.

Unique Local Shops and Makers to Visit This Holiday Season

There are plenty of amazing local places to start grabbing gifts, but there are a few I’d personally suggest:

Tumbleweed Botanicals (2319 34th St): for body care, beautiful crystals, jewelry, and much more.

The Hallmark Store (4930 S Loop 289 #230*): Although this is a chain, obviously, it is staffed by wonderful local people and is full of fantastic Christmas items, like ornaments, decor, and many thoughtful and desirable gifts from art kits to vintage-style candy, purses, candles, and much more.

*This entire shopping center is a fabulous place to shop- it also has Guitar Center and Chickie’s Tasty Treats, along with great food, too. 

Local Artisan Markets watch for market pop-ups with local artists and artisans; there are tons of treasures to be found there.

A Few Other Lubbock Local Gift Giving Ideas

Lubbock is home to fantastic wineries and brew pubs. If your loved one imbibes, a beautiful bottle may be a great option

Local Florists: show you care with a unique and super-fresh arrangement

Local Restaurants: Share your favorites with a gift card (there are usually deals around this time, too) or better yet, go together!
