Baylor football took some hits at the running back position during Saturday’s matchup with Houston.

Late in the third quarter, freshman running back Caden Knighten was carted off the field after sustaining what appeared to be a lower back injury. Knighten went down after taking a hard hit from a Houston defender as he tried to push forward for extra yardage.

Knighten was evaluated on the field by trainers before he was placed on a stretcher. The running back was then carted off the field. He raised a thumbs-up and was seen speaking to medical staff as he was carted off.

Knighten had an expanded role in Baylor’s meeting with Houston after Bryson Washington went down with a leg injury early. Knighten ran for 22 yards on eight carries before he left the game.
