An iconic Elks Lodge located on Evans Avenue has a new owner. Austin Company, a commercial real estate firm led by CEO Jim Austin, has acquired the 4,000-square-foot building that sits on 18,000 square feet of land.
“We recognize the profound importance the Elks Lodge holds for Morningside and the broader Fort Worth community,” Austin said in a news release. “Our vision is to honor that legacy by revitalizing the space for both traditional and new uses, ensuring it remains a place where the community can come together for many years to come.”
Often known as the Panther City Elks Lodge, the building at 2219 Evans Ave. is across from the former Brooks Clinic. According to the news release, the building has served as a cornerstone in the Morningside community for over 75 years. Originally established as a welcoming space for people of color, the lodge has been the setting for countless community events, celebrations and gatherings, according to Austin.
The property will be renamed Stillwater Lounge & Event Center. The property was appraised at $309,725 this year by the Tarrant Appraisal District.
Each Sunday, the Stillwater Lounge will host Sunday Scene, a performance series with several different artists. The current lineup sees Linny Nance & the Network Trio on Dec. 7 and Mahogany the Artist on Dec. 14. The location will also host an Entrepreneur Business Mixer on Dec. 4. DFW Airport is the hotel’s owner, Woodbine is the developer, Muckleroy & Falls is the contractor, Merriman is the architect, and Hyatt will be the operator.
“At Muckleroy & Falls, we take pride in being part of projects that turn vision into reality,” said Taylor Hale, president. “DFW Airport continues to drive growth and opportunity across North Texas and beyond, and we are honored to help bring this project to life alongside trusted partners like Woodbine, Hyatt and Merriman Anderson Architects.”
Ikea in Fort Worth, meatballs not included
