EAGLE PASS, Texas – The state government will be supporting the local community after a local park was taken over by immigration enforcement.
On Thursday, Eagle Pass Mayor Aaron Valdez announced on Facebook that the City of Eagle Pass will receive $1,000,000 through reimbursement funding from the Office of the Governor, under Rider 49 of Senate Bill 1.
“This is outstanding news for the City of Eagle Pass,” said Mayor Aaron Valdez. “We are deeply grateful to Governor Greg Abbott and State Representative Eddie Morales for their leadership and continued commitment to supporting our city.”
This comes after Shelby Park reopened, which sits on the U.S.-Mexico border, to the public in April of 2025.
