No, you won’t be hunted for sport at Boerne’s new bar, but you can get a tasty beverage. Credit: IMDB

Just outside San Antonio, humans are transported to the jungles of distant planet Yautja Prime, where a bloodthirsty alien hunts humans for sport.

Thankfully, we’re just talking about a newly opened Predator-themed bar in Boerne and not a one-way ticket to a gory game preserve.

Darkside After Dark, at 25 Truss Drive in Boerne, is the latest creation of the minds behind Darkside Brick Oven Pizza Co., a restaurant known for serving up “a slice of the past” via Back to the Future events and loads of ’80s nostalgia. Both businesses inhabit the same complex off of State Highway 46.

In homage to the original 1987 action movie thriller, Darkside After Dark is draped in lush jungle greenery with the skeleton of a pilot dangling from an actual helicopter stuck in a massive tree behind the bar. High up in a corner near walls that resemble treacherous rock cliffs, the Predator himself lurks, looking out over the crowd.

Since Darkside After Dark launched Nov. 13, a video announcing the spot’s grand opening and posted by Boerne Life has already generated considerable attention online, drawing some 61,500 thousand likes.

More than 2,000 comments on the clip suggest the bar might become a new travel destination for lovers of ’80s action movies, Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Alien and Predator franchises.

“UK visitor inbound speed fast,” one Instagram user wrote in the comments of one of the bar’s photos.

Darkside After Dark is open from 3-10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 3-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

There better be a drink called the Sexual Tyrannosaurus. Just sayin’.
