London PTO members said this year’s goal was $60,000. However, thanks to the support of their families, they have surpassed it by even more.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — London Independent School held its fun run on Friday morning, where hundreds of children participated alongside staff members.Â
PTO President Kristi Barrera said it’s not only about fundraising for the school, but it’s also an event that allows children to participate, earn prizes, and have fun while exercising.Â
London’s goal this year was to raise $60,000, but it has surpassed that, now standing at $80,000. PTO members stated that this would not have happened without the support of families.
Barrera said, “We help supply some of the items that our school district needs more of. Things that need replacing, we help provide things for the classroom that make just educational experiences more fun for our students.”
Each class competes with one another for overall pledges, which can lead to earning cupcakes, breakfast, prizes, and more as a class.
It’s also a fun way to help teachers out by earning gift cards from the school’s booster program to utilize for classroom needs. The “booster-thon” lasted a week, filled with fun rewards for the class. Pre-K through 6th grade participated in the fundraiser.Â
