AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department is investigating a death after a woman was found unresponsive near a West Campus apartment early Saturday morning after attending a tailgate for the University of Texas versus Texas A&M football game.
Around 12:47 a.m., APD officers responded to 2101 Rio Grande Street, which is near Rio Grande St. and 21 St.
Officers arrived on the scene and found a woman who was unresponsive. The woman was pronounced dead on scene just before 1 a.m.
KXAN reached out to Austin Police asking about the identity of the person; however police did not release that information. We also reached out to Texas A&M University asking if the woman was a student at the university. KXAN will update this story if and when those information are received.
A GoFundMe created Sunday however identified the person as a Texas A&M student in town for the game.
Austin Police said that the incident is not being investigated as a homicide.
“There are no indications of suspicious circumstances,” APD said.
The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
