Gary and Linda Lightfoot of Lubbock, missing since Thanksgiving | Image by Texas DPS/Silver Alert
A statewide Silver Alert was activated Sunday for Linda Lightfoot, 81, and Gary Lightfoot, 82, an elderly Lubbock couple who have not been heard from since leaving a family Thanksgiving gathering in Panhandle, Texas, on November 27.
Family members reported them missing on Friday after the pair failed to return home, Panhandle Police Chief Sace Hardman told KAMC News.
The Carson County Sheriff’s Office said the disappearance “poses a credible threat to their health and safety as Gary Lightfoot is oxygen dependent.”
Neither carries a cellphone or other traceable device.
The Lightfoots are believed to be traveling in a silver 2024 Toyota Camry bearing Texas license plate TWN0925. The vehicle was last spotted on Friday near Santa Rosa, New Mexico, authorities said, but its current direction and destination are unknown.
Linda Lightfoot is described as 5-foot-3, 128 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes; she was last seen wearing a black-and-white blouse, dark pants, and a bulky silver necklace. Gary Lightfoot is 5-foot-9, 197 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes; he wore a gray sweater and black sweatpants.
Panhandle police, Carson County deputies, Texas Rangers, and New Mexico State Police are assisting in the search, which has included helicopters and drones.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Carson County Sheriff’s Office at 806-537-3511 or dial 911.
