Tis’ the season to be jolly AND to give back to those in need and that is exactly what two El Paso nonprofit organizations are doing this holiday season!

Mija, Yes You Can and the Mijo Things Foundation have officially launched Operation Wrap & Play, a community-driven effort benefitting The Miracle League of El Paso and its annual Christmas Drive.

The Miracle League of El Paso provides children and adults with disabilities the chance to play sports in a safe, accessible, and joy-filled environment.

Learn More About Mijo Things Foundation

Mijo Things Foundation was started by NFL star Will Hernandez and his former UTEP teammates, including co-founder Joshua Ortega and Derek Elmendorff. 

“Philanthropy is one of our key pillars as an organization,” said Mija, Yes You Can officials. “So every year we team up with another local nonprofit to help their efforts during the holiday season and this year we are excited to have The Mijo Things foundation helping us support the Miracle League of El Paso.”

The Mijo Things Foundation’s mission is to give back to their community by mentoring and empowering the next generation. It focuses on reminding kids that their dreams matter and providing them with support systems, opportunities, and the right mindset to become their best selves. 

The foundation emphasizes values of culture, community, and corazón, with its work encompassing mentorship, guidance, and upliftment for young people.

How You Can Show Support For Operation Wrap And Play:

The community has three ways to join the mission:

Volunteer to wrap Christmas giftsDonate gift-wrapping suppliesDonate new sports equipment for Miracle League athletes

Gift wrapping will take place at Cielo Vista Mall, in front of Dillard’s Women on the lower-level fountain area. A minimum $5 donation per gift is encouraged, with every dollar going directly to Miracle League programs. For those who prefer to give from home, two Amazon wish lists have been created for both wrapping supplies and sports equipment.

Join The Mija’s & Mijo’s For A Special Wrapping Day:

A major highlight of the campaign will be the Mija & Mijo Wrapping Day on Sunday, December 21, where Mija board members and Mijo Things representatives will be wrapping gifts at the mall from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sports items can also be dropped off during the wrapping event but all items must be new.

“Every child deserves the chance to play and feel celebrated,” says event organizers. “Operation Wrap & Play lets our community show up in a meaningful way.���
