Court docs said Jamarcus Scott was angry that a dog and its puppies that he and his girlfriend had recently adopted were peeing on the floor of their apartment.

HOUSTON — A Houston man was arrested and charged with animal cruelty after he killed a puppy in north Houston earlier this week, according to court documents. Investigators say the puppy was thrown from a second-floor balcony about 50 feet into a parking lot.

Jamarcus Rickayus Scott, 31, was arrested on Tuesday.

Court documents say that Scott and his girlfriend recently adopted a dog and its puppies.

According to court documents, Scott got mad when the dogs urinated on the floor of their north Houston apartment on Plaza Verde Drive near the North Freeway. Investigators said he retaliated first by urinating on the cage the dogs were in. Then, court documents allege, he picked up one of the puppies and hurled it off the balcony, killing it.

Scott’s bond was set at $10,000.
