LUBBOCK, Texas – Behind a double-double from Jada Malone and 49 points from the bench, the Texas Tech Lady Raiders remain undefeated with an 83-43 victory over the Wichita State Shockers on Wednesday evening at the United Supermarkets Arena.
 
Texas Tech (10-0) was led in scoring, rebounds and assists by Malone after she tallied 19, 10 and three, respectively. Malone shot 5-for-7 (.714) from the field and went a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line. Snudda Collins scored 13 in the game against Wichita State (1-8) for her 10th double-figure scoring game of the year.
 
Bailey Maupin also scored in double-digits with 10 points on 50 percent shooting from the field (4-for-8). She also added a team-best three assists and steals. Jalynn Bristow was the fourth Lady Raider in double-figure scoring with 10, while also totaling eight rebounds and two assists. Gemma Núñez joined Malone with a team-leading 10 rebounds in the game, her season high on the year. Denae Fritz added nine points on 3-for-5 shooting from behind the arc (.600). Fritz also led the team in blocks and steals with three apiece.
 

As a team, the Lady Raiders shot 45.9 percent from the field (28-for-61) as well as 41.7 percent from the three-point line (10-for-24). Tech led the way in rebounds with 53, the first time totaling 50-plus rebounds in a game since Nov 17, 2023 against Texas A&M-Commerce. The Lady Raiders added 16 assists, nine steals and seven blocks. Defensively, Tech held Wichita State to just 23.2 percent from the field (13-for-56) and 4-for-20 from behind the arc (.200). This is the Lady Raiders’ first 40-plus point victory since Nov. 7, 2023 when they beat UTRGV by a 95-53 score.
 
In the first quarter, Fritz nailed a three right out of the gate thanks to a dish from Bristow. Both teams remained scoreless until Wichita State made two free throws at the 7:33 mark. The Shockers took a 6-5 lead, but Collins responded with a jumper to make it 7-6. After this, the Lady Raiders went on a 10-0 thanks to buckets from Malone, Collins and Bristow for the 17-6 advantage after one.
 
Fritz kept the run going with yet another triple to start out the second quarter. Bristow followed with the next five points thanks to a three and two free throws. Núñez continued the scoring with a layup before the Shockers made their first field goal at the 7:13 mark to make it 27-8. Maupin hit a 3-pointer to answer, but Wichita State scored one right back, sparking a 7-0 run before the media timeout. Maupin stopped the Shocker run with a backdoor cut layup to start a 10-0 run. Wichita State scored the last four points of the quarter as Tech led by a 40-21 score.
 
The Shockers began the second half on a 7-0 run. The Lady Raiders got an and-one opportunity from Malone and another three from Fritz to stop the Wichita State momentum. After Tech’s 10-0 run in response, Wichita State converted a successful and-one with four and a half minutes left in the period. Maupin was able to grab a steal on a Shockers’ inbound play and scored an easy layup thanks to it. Wichita State got a three right after, but Malone scored the next four points to extend the Lady Raider lead. Sidney Love nailed a three at the end of the quarter as Tech held a 62-37 lead.
 
The Lady Raiders went on a 7-0 run at the start of the fourth quarter, highlighted by an Adlee Blacklock 3-pointer. Wichita State scored its first field goal of the period with 6:46 left, then added two free throws less than a minute later. Collins responded with back-to-back buckets for Tech, before the Shockers made two more free throws. That would be it for Wichita State as the Lady Raiders scored the last 10 points of the game to win it by an 83-43 score.
