1. Camp Mystic announces enhanced safety plans after death of 25 girls, 2 counselors
The owners of an all-girls summer camp in the Texas Hill Country, where 25 campers and two teenage counselors died in catastrophic July 4 flooding, announced plans on Tuesday for new safety upgrades that will be in place when a portion of the camp opens next summer.
Camp Mystic owners said in a letter to parents that they plan to exceed new camp safety laws that were passed by the Legislature and signed by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott following the devastating floods that killed at least 136 people and washed away homes and vehicles.
2. Jasmine Crockett schedules announcement Monday, hinting at Senate bid
U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Dallas, might be closer to putting her name in the hat for U.S. Senate next year. She scheduled a “special announcement” for Monday at 4:30 p.m., just 90 minutes before the deadline to file for candidacy.
3. Uber launches robotaxis in Dallas
Dallas has hopped on the surging autonomous vehicle wave with Uber.
The booming rideshare company launched the option of robotaxis in Dallas on Wednesday, partnering with Avride, an autonomous vehicle startup based in Austin, according to a news release from Uber.
