Isolated freezing fog possible Friday; otherwise warmer, dry

  • December 5, 2025

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The upper-level storm system that produced snow in the northern parts of the viewing area has moved east. Drier air is moving in behind the system, and surface winds have veered to the southwest late Thursday into the evening.

A low chance of patchy freezing fog is possible Friday morning in the extreme northwestern portion of the viewing area. Mild and dry conditions are expected to prevail through the forecast period.

Calm winds and lingering surface moisture on Friday morning could lead to isolated freezing fog in the far northeastern corner of the region. Impacts would be localized, mainly reduced visibility on bridges and in low-lying spots for a short time.

The upcoming weather pattern is expected to remain generally quiet for the next seven days. Temperatures will rebound to near or above normal Friday, with the warmest stretches Saturday and again Tuesday–Wednesday as westerly surface winds dominate.

A cold front may bring cooler conditions on Sunday. Precipitation chances are essentially zero through the period due to dry west-to-northwest flow. Mild and dry conditions are expected to prevail through the forecast period.
