We Are Austin’s Sierra Waggoner and Trevor Scott visited Hattie B’s new location at Domain Northside and they have one thing to say: we ate everything on the menu and had an absolute blast doing it! From the first bite of crispy Nashville hot chicken to the last spoonful of banana pudding, the experience was pure fun, flavor, and a little bit of delicious chaos.
“When we started this thing back in 2012, I’m not really sure we knew that Hattie B’s would become a thing,” Nick Bishop Sr., Co-Founder, said. “And we’re really very grateful. It’s due to so many people out there that we work with. We’re just here to welcome all of those folks in Austin!”
Located at 3100 Esperanza Crossing, corner of Rock Rose Avenue, Hattie B’s brings the bold flavors of Nashville straight to Austin. The restaurant’s interior pops with red, black, and white accents, playful neon chicken silhouettes, and plenty of seating. For those who enjoy dining al fresco, the 600-square-foot covered patio is perfect for soaking up the season while enjoying Southern comfort food.

“So just happy to be growing our footprint here in such an incredible city,” Nick Bishop Jr., Co-Founder, said. “So many similarities to Nashville music and food and culture. My go-to would be anything hot — probably the sandwich or the wings. Then I would go with mac and cheese and the greens. Everything we do, we try to show up with heart and purpose. I think the thing I’m most proud of is the incredible people that we get to do it with, being able to give back to the communities we’re in. And, like I said, have a real good time with hot chicken and cold beer wherever you place.”

At the heart of Hattie B’s is its famous Nashville hot chicken, made with crispy Southern fried chicken and a signature blend of spices. Heat levels range from Mild, Medium, Hot, Damn Hot, to the daring Shut the Cluck Up!, while Southern Style and Sweet & Smoky dry rub provide flavorful milder options.
The menu also includes Southern favorites:
Dirty Bird Fries – crinkle-cut fries topped with pimento mac, tender chicken bites, Nashville comeback sauce, crispy pickles, and green onions.
Classic Chicken Sandwich – fried or grilled chicken with butter-toasted brioche, slaw, comeback sauce, and pickles.
Jumbo Tenders Plate – three fried or grilled tenders with a side, bread, and pickles.
Southern Salad – fried or grilled chicken bites atop mixed greens with sweet corn, black-eyed pea succotash, cheddar, bacon, and cornbread croutons.
Half Bird Plate – a combination of breast, thigh, leg, and wing served with a side, bread, and pickles.
Executive Chef Brian Morris said, “Hattie B’s is a feeling, an experience above you. You feel welcome. You feel warm. You feel like you’re at home at Hattie B’s. You know, we’re from Nashville, and we like to think of Nashville as a combination of a hug and a high five. So you’re going to have a blast while you’re here, but you’ll feel like you’re where you’re supposed to be.”
Brian added, “Right in front of you are our Dirty Bird Fries — Hattie B’s greatest hits: crinkle-cut fries, pimento mac & cheese, Nashville comeback sauce, crispy pickles, green onions, and any fried or grilled chicken at your preferred heat level. The sandwiches are another favorite — butter-toasted brioche, giant chicken breast, slaw, comeback sauce, pickles. And for dessert, we have peach cobbler, banana pudding with toasted meringue, and my personal favorite, the fried waffle sundae!”
