CANYON, Texas (KFDA) – West Texas A&M Buffs and Lady Buffs picked up big wins over Oklahoma Christian on Thursday.

The #12 Lady Buffs picked up their seventh straight win in front of the home crowd Thursday night at the First United Bank Center after taking down Oklahoma Christian, 76-51, to begin conference play.
The Lady Buffs never trailed in the contest, despite some shooting woes from the three-point arc.
As a team, WT shot 34.8% from the field (23/66), 16% from three (4/25), and 70.3% from the charity stripe (26/37).
As a team, they notched 56 rebounds, 11 assists, 14 steals and four blocks.
Randi Harding and Taylor Haggan were the only double-digit scorers for the night, scoring 17 and 13 points respectively.
Karley Motschenbacher outrebounded everyone on the court, grabbing 11 boards in 22 minutes played.
The Lady Buffs were really able to capitalize in points off turnovers (22), second chance points (19), and fast break points (12).
Lady Buffs pick up their seventh straight win
The women’s squad is now 7-1 on the year and 1-0 in conference play. They’ll be back in action Saturday, hosting Cameron to continue conference play at the FUB.
WT Men’s stay undefeated after outlasting Oklahoma Christian
The #13 Buffs start their conference play with a win at First United Bank Center against Oklahoma Central, 94-70.
WT went 53% from the field (35-66), 39% from the three point line (11-28) and 87% from the free-throw stripe (13-15).
West Texas A&M Buffs stay undefeated 8-0
Fontaine Williams anchored the scoring with 26 points, while teammates Camden Cowgill, Zach Brown, and James Parlow Jr. added 16, 14, and 11 points, respectively, to also reach double figures.
The Buffs continue with their winning record of 8-0 and start the conference play with a win. They will back at home play against Cameron on Saturday.
