FRISCO — Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb wasn’t asked if he will play in Sunday’s game against Washington, but all signs are looking good.

Lamb missed previous three games with a sprained ankle suffered Sept. 21 at Chicago. Lamb has been limited in practice the last two days.

Lamb was direct when asked how much he’s missed playing.

“A lot,” he said Thursday. “It’s been tough mentally and physically, obviously with my ankle and rehabbing everything and then mentally, obviously of the player I am and how anxious I am to get out there. But trusting in my process and trusting in my rehab team and the training staff here and getting back right, and make sure it’s right to go out there and be myself.”

Lamb said he could have played last week but giving him an extra week of rest/rehab will make the ankle stronger.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Ceedee Lamb (88) is seen in the second half of an NFL football...

He was injured on a running play in the first half of a loss to the Bears. Coach Brian Schottenheimer, who called the play, took some criticism for using Lamb in the backfield. Lamb has run plays out of the backfield in the past and Schottenheimer said he had no regrets doing it.

“I’m with whatever,” Lamb said of running out of the backfield. “I don’t know why people [are] acting like that’s my first time being in the backfield. That was just one of those freakiest plays. I gave the guy a stiff arm and he managed to hit my knee on my ankle. It’s just football. I don’t think [Schottenheimer] deserved any backlash. If I would have scored, I don’t think he would have gotten any backlash.

“Things happen in this league, things happen for a reason and that’s showing how much effort a guy put in, in making a tackle, and again that’s just a freakish play that just happened. Thank God it was just an ankle sprain. It could have been worse.”
