No. 4 Texas Tech and No. 11 BYU battle in a historic Big 12 Championship Game on Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Both teams are making their first ever appearance in the Big 12 title game, and the event is set to be sold out for the first time and break the all-time record for most attendees at a conference championship game.Â
Texas Tech is in the midst of the best season in program history, its first 11-1 campaign since 2008. A conference title would be its first outright since 1955 when the Red Raiders were members of the Border Conference. BYU is 22-3 over the past two years and will play for their first conference title since leaving the Mountain West in 2010.Â
Texas Tech and BYU played earlier this season with the Red Raiders pulling off a 29-7 victory against the Cougars in Lubbock. The loss pushed BYU out of the projected College Football Playoff field despite an 11-1 record. The Cougars likely need a win on Saturday to reach the postseason.Â
