The Longhorns (9-3), who finished 13th in the final CFP rankings, will face No. 18 Michigan (9-3) Jan. 31 at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla. Representatives of the Citrus Bowl have been courting Texas coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns since they endured a second loss of the season Oct. 4 at Florida, and those officials appear ecstatic to host the Longhorns for the first time in the game’s history.

Texas vs. Michigan: Longhorns have never lost to Wolverines

When it comes to college football history, no first-round playoff or bowl game can match the clout of the Citrus Bowl. Michigan has the most all-time wins with 1,021, and Texas ranks fifth on that list with 964. The two programs have combined for seven national championships since the inception of the national polls determining the championships in 1936.

Texas has won both meetings between the schools, including a 38-37 in the 2005 Rose Bowl and a 31-12 win at Michigan in 2024.
