Fresh off the goose-egg he hung on the Pittsburgh Penguins in the shootout of Sunday’s 3-2 win, Dallas Stars goalie Jake Oettinger got a hat tip from the NHL on Monday.

The 26-year-old Oettinger was named the NHL’s Second Star of the Week for his play last week, winning three out of a possible three games and posting a 0.98 goals-against average.

Oettinger moved into first place in the NHL in wins among goaltenders amid the Stars’ 10-game points streak.

Oettinger’s three victories last week included a shutout win over the Devils in which he turned aside 30 shots, and added another 16 saves in a 4-1 win over the Sharks.

Oettinger allowed two goals in the first 40 minutes of Sunday’s matchup before blanking the Penguins in the third period and stonewalling all three of their shootout attempts, as well.

In total Oettinger is on a personal winning streak of six games.

Panthers center Carter Verhaeghe was tapped as the Third Star of the Week for his four-goal performance last week, and the No. 1 Star of the Week went to Islanders goalie Ilya Sorokin, who went 3-0-0 last week with at least 30 saves in each of his starts.

Oettinger and the Stars next head north to take on the Winnipeg Jets Tuesday night at 7 in Canada.
