Dallas Cowboys to hold annual First Responders Appreciation game this Sunday

  • December 9, 2025

DALLAS, Texas (KOSA) – For the thirteenth year in a row, the Dallas Cowboys are turning a spotlight on the people who keep our communities safe by celebrating first responders from across Texas at their annual appreciation game.

The Cowboys hold this game every year honoring police, firefighters, military, and more.

Before the game starts, those same first responders will share a feeling of gratitude, recognition and celebration with a flag presentation covering the entire field.

Carlos Ortiz, First Responders Appreciation Organizer, said “One of the things that I remember that I was told specifically in 2012, Jerry’s words were “If it goes well, we’ll continue to do it year after year. If it doesn’t go well this will be a one and done”. We’re still doing it thirteen years later, so obviously things went well.”

For everyone involved, the game has become a chance to give back, opening the door for more first responders.

To name a few from the Permian Basin, there’s Ector County Sheriffs Office, Ector County ISD, Kermit and Midland Police and Reeves County.

Ortiz added, “The west Texans that I grew up with when I was a trooper here have not been able to benefit from this, so now that I’m back I’m trying to share the wealth and take more west Texans to this particular game.”

The Cowboys will host their first responders’ game on Sunday, December 14th against the Minnesota Vikings.
