Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning are set to star in an upcoming legal thriller based on an unpublished short story from Dallas-born author Chandler Baker.
“Lenny (Fanning), a summer associate at a prestigious Dallas law firm, uncovers a web of NDAs masking a dark truth,” reads the series’ logline obtained by Variety.
“When she realizes she signed the same agreement, her discoveries put her in the crosshairs of the firm’s most powerful female partner Sharon (Kidman) — upending their mentor-protégé dynamic and raising the question: Who gets to keep secrets, and at what cost?”
Production on Discretion, an A24-backed series, is expected to begin in 2026. If the thriller were to film in North Texas, it would mark a return to the area for Kidman, who also stars in Taylor Sheridan’s Lioness. The spy show has recently filmed in Fort Worth and may have filmed in downtown Dallas as well.

Baker, a former corporate attorney, lived in Lake Highlands until she was 10. She has used Dallas as a fictional milieu before. Her 2019 book, Whisper Network, is a murder mystery set in the legal department of a Dallas sports firm during the #MeToo era.
Although none of the events in the novel happened to her, she told The Dallas Morning News, she said she could not have written it without having worked at a law firm and having been “a working woman and a working mom in the current climate.”
