Boys Bowling

Plano lost to Huntley, 3,605-2,805. Shawn Vazquez set a school record with a 632 series, highlighted by a high game of 278.

Yorkville defeated Minooka, 3,199-3,175. Alex Wilson led the Foxes with a 691 series, including a high game of 246. Mason Patterman added a 622 series with a high game of 239.

Boys Basketball

Leland defeated Hiawatha, 56-50. Declan Brennan led the Panthers with 18 points and 22 rebounds to post a double-double. Hayden Spoonmore added 15 points, and Gunnar Swenson scored 11 points.

Plano topped IMSA, 61-50.

Girls Basketball

Somonauk/Leland lost to Parkview Christian, 49-23. Bobcats coach Jason Zaleski said Macey Kinney, Kira Barnes, Alexa Larson, MacKenna McMahan and Ashley McCoy were the top performers in the loss.

Indian Creek fell to Genoa-Kingston, 49-39. Madison Boehne recorded a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds for the Timberwolves. Ally Keilman added 10 points and five steals, while Bethany Odle finished with five points and eight rebounds. Elsie Betz scored six points for the Timberwolves while Gretta Oziah grabbed five rebounds.

Serena edged Plano, 40-36. Alexa McNally led the Huskers with 12 points and five rebounds. Parker Twait scored 10 points and added two steals, while Kendall Whiteaker chipped in five points. Le’Niya Viser and Chloe Rowe each scored 10 points for the Reapers. Rowe also had seven rebounds and seven steals.

Girls Bowling

Plano lost to Marengo, 1,892-1,103.

COLLEGE ATHLETICS (WEEKEND)

Division I Football

Notre Dame withdrew from bowl consideration after failing to make the 12-team College Football Playoff. Indiana earned the top seed, followed by Ohio State, Georgia and Texas Tech. The remaining CFP teams, in order by seeds, are Oregon, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Alabama, Miami, Tulane and James Madison. The first round of the playoff begins Friday, Dec. 19, when No. 8 Oklahoma faces No. 9 Alabama at 7 p.m.

HIGH SCHOOL

The Plano varsity boys basketball team will host Sandwich in a Kishwaukee River Conference rivalry game tonight with a 6:45 p.m. tipoff at Plano High School. The game will air live on 107.1 FM WSPY, and it will also be streamed online at wspynews.com.

Yorkville and Oswego will hold a holiday food drive Friday, Dec. 12, in conjunction with their varsity boys basketball matchup. The Foxes and Panthers have joined forces with the Kendall County Food Pantry to help provide holiday meals for local families. Fans are asked to donate nonperishable food items. Suggested donations include boxed stuffing, instant mashed potatoes, canned vegetables, cranberry sauce, jars of gravy, soups and macaroni and cheese. Donation boxes will be located at the Yorkville High School athletic entrance. The freshman and sophomore games tip off at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m., with all three games played at Yorkville High School.

Waubonsee Community College – Basketball

The men’s and women’s teams will host Kishwaukee College tonight at Waubonsee Community College. The women’s game tips off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.

LOCAL

Oswego Hockey Club

Oswego Hockey Club’s junior varsity team will host the Warriors at 8:30 p.m. tonight at All Seasons Ice Rinks in Naperville.
