Texas A&M (11-1, 7-1 SEC) will enter the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history as the No. 7 seed, set to host No. 10 Miami (10-2) in Kyle Field on Saturday, December 20, as head coach Mike Elko and his veteran team are set to take the field for the first time since losing to rival Texas 27-17 on Black Friday.

For those who will be watching the Aggies for the first time this season, knowing that the CFP draws in a national audience year after year, this roster was built in the offseason after 72% of the 2024 team returned, paired with several key transfer portal addtions, led by wide receivers KC Concepcion and Mario Craver, who changed the offense for the better and finshed with over 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns.

On defense, senior edge Cashius Howell, who was snubbed by several preseason outlets, including the SEC preseason teams, led the SEC in sacks (11.5) among a pass rush that finished tied for first in sacks (41) with Oklahoma.

However, all eleven wins wouldn’t be possible without the play of starting quarterback Marcel Reed, who, along with A&M’s veteran offensive line that allowed just 12 sacks, threw for 2,932 yards and 25 touchdowns. On Tuesday, the final All-SEC Teams were released, as six Aggies made the first and third teams, including KC Concepcion’s three team selections.

First Team

WR, AP (All-Purpose) and RP (Return Specialist) — KC Concepcion

OL — Trey Zuhn III

DL — Cashius Howell

Third Team

WR — Mario Craver

OL — Chase Bisontis

LB — Taurean York

The most surprising omission is Marcel Reed, who was a Heisman candidate throughout the year and one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC, outside of Diego Pavia (Vanderbilt), Gunner Stockton (Georgia), and Arch Manning (Texas). Still, Cashius Howell’s earning first-team honors is quite the achievement for the former Bowling Green standout.
