SAN ANTONIO – A man arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated has died while being booked into the Bexar County Jail.

According to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), a 61-year-old man arrested for driving while intoxicated by SAPD has died after experiencing a medical episode while in custody.

The incident occurred as the suspect was being transferred to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office at the Justice Intake and Assessment Annex.

Emergency Medical Services transported him to the hospital, where he later died. The SAPD is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
