American television audiences were captivated 38 years ago, as rescuers struggled to save an 18-month-old girl stuck in an abandoned water well in Texas.

Jessica McClure — nicknamed “Baby Jessica” — fell into a hole eight inches in diameter in her aunt’s backyard in Midland.

She was trapped 22 feet below the surface for 58 hours — without food and water.

First responders had to drill their way down to reach her.

On October 16th, 1987, all three major broadcast networks famously televised a paramedic carrying Baby Jessica out of the shaft.

That toddler is now Jessica McClure Morales — a mom still living in Midland.

And even though her injuries required 15 surgeries — she doesn’t remember any of it.
