The longest-running marathon in Texas will be back in downtown Dallas this weekend, and weather conditions should start out favorable before turning chilly.

North Texas has been a few degrees warmer than usual for mid-December, a pattern that is expected to continue to the weekend. Saturday’s 5K and 10K races should benefit from those pleasant conditions, with a high of 69 degrees.

Sunday’s marathon, half-marathon and relay runners are predicted to face colder conditions, according to forecasts from the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office. A cold front is expected to move into North Texas Saturday night, which will drop the high on Sunday down to 53 degrees.

The skies could be cloudy both days, but cloud coverage is expected to be more comprehensive on Sunday.
