SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Bexar County deputies made a big drug bust when acting on a tip they received.
Sheriff Javier Salazar says they were told that a drug deal was happening at a hotel on East Houston Street Wednesday night.
After getting a search warrant, deputies arrived at the hotel and searched two rooms.
That’s where they found 10 kilograms of methamphetamine laced with fentanyl.
Salazar says the fentanyl acts as an ingredient to “drive addiction” and that the combination of drugs is 50 times more addictive than crack cocaine.
Two people were arrested. They have been identified as 38-year-old Yolanda Ponce and 22-year-old Tomas Hernandez Jr.
They were both taken into custody on drug possession charges.
Salazar says the drugs have a street value of between $500,000 to $800,000.
