LUBBOCK, Texas — The Christmas season is a time for friends and family to gather and celebrate the holidays. The season also holds a special place for churches across the area. Saturday, December 13

Grace Lubbock UMC — Hosting their first annual Live Nativity event, the community is invited to 11919 Frankford Ave. Outside, there will be a drive through Live Nativity with the Christmas story being broadcast and drive through prayer available. Inside, there will be a hot chocolate bar, kids crafts and Christmas music playing.

Wednesday, December 17

St. John’s United Methodist Church — During the season of Advent, for many the holidays are not always merry and bright. Whether dealing with recent tragedy, hardship or scars from previous years, the holidays can bring the blues. The community is invited to 1501 University Ave. for a Blue Christmas Worship Service starting at 6 p.m.


Holiday events happening in December around Lubbock

Christmas Eve, Wednesday, December 24

First Presbyterian Church of Lubbock — Celebrate Christmas Eve and gather for a candlelight service filled with music and the story of Christ’s birth. It’s a simple, meaningful hour to paus, breathe and share the warmth oft he night as a community. The event starts at 6 p.m., and is located at 3814 130 Street (FM 1585).

Grace Lubbock UMC & Lubbock Korean UMC — A joint Christmas Eve service starting at 5 p.m. Come out to 11919 Frankford Ave. to celebrate the reason of the season.

LakeRidge Methodist Church — The community is invited to celebrate the joy and hope of the Christmas season at its Christmas Eve Services, starting at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary and 4 p.m. in LakeRidge Praise Service. Each service will feature worship, candle lighting, communion and Christmas music, providing a meaningful time to remember the birth of Jesus and reflect on the hope that comes with this season. For more information, contact LakeRidge Methodist Church at 806-794-4015 or visit www.lakeridgegmc.org.

St. John’s United Methodist Church — Step into the warmth of the season and immerse yourself in the joyous atmosphere of St. John’s on Christmas Eve. Join in person at 1501 University Ave, for two candlelight worship services featuring scripture passages and joyful hymns. Service times are at 5:30 p.m. and 10:45 p.m.

Trinity Church — Experience the wonder of Christmas and gather to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Come with family and friends, and take a quiet moment with the glow of candlelight for a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 7002 Canton Avenue, starting at 11 p.m.

Westmont Christian Church — Join for a Christmas Eve Candlelight an Communion Service at 4808 Utica Avenue, starting at 6 p.m. All are invited to celebrate the birth of the Savior.
