LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – For 38 years, Ransom Canyon has shared the Christmas spirit by showing off decorated homes and the Ransom Canyon Memorial Chapel.
Kerry Miller, one of the event organizers, says he looks forward to the event each year.
“I think that they see the beauty of this place,” Miller said. “A lot of people in this area tend to apologize for it and you see the beautiful sunsets behind us, when people come out here, it’s like a hidden gem,” Kerry said.
Four homes open for tours
Visitors will be able to walk through four homes, including the famous Bruno Steel home, with each home offering visitors something different.
“Within each home, we’re going to have live music, and Christmas carols and at the chapel we will have hot cider and cookies,” Kerry said. “It’s just a great place to come out and fellowship. One of the home is going to have Santa and Ms. Claus, so it’s just a community event,” Miller said.
Proceeds support local chapel
Money raised from ticket sales stays local, helping the Ransom Canyon Chapel maintain its facilities and continue its services.
“By coming out and buying a ticket to the event, helps support the maintenance and upkeep of that non-profit to keep that place available for people to have weddings, engagements, baby showers, wedding showers, all types of events,” Miller said.
Lynn Miller, chair for the annual event, said she hopes families will attend to celebrate the holidays together.
“It’s going to be a night of just joy and hospitality and people just wanting to share and love on each other and just celebrating the seasons and the love of Jesus,” Lynn said. “I just hope people feel very loved and happy to be here,” Lynn said.
