Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls is bringing its New England-style lobster rolls to Dallas next week. It’s a rapidly expanding fast casual franchise. Should we be excited about it?
The concept was founded in 2014 by Dan Beck, a former restaurant seafood buyer with considerable credibility among Maine lobstermen. He learned about the importance of quality sourcing and wanted to share the traditions and flavors of the East Coast across the U.S.
It’s the largest brick-and-mortar lobster roll chain in the U.S., with more than 30 locations since it began franchising in 2016.
Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls has another location in Texas, in downtown Austin, that opened in 202. It boasts solid reviews, sitting at a 4.5-star average on Google.

The new Dallas location is now open in Victory Plaza at 2301 N. Akard St. and will have a grand opening celebration on Saturday, Dec. 13. Find it on the same corner as The Henry, North Italia and TacoLingo, all within walking distance of the American Airlines Center.
Grand Opening Freebies
For the grand opening, guests can enter to win a free lobster roll for a year, one each week. Enter this tasty contest through Sunday, January 11.
Also, anyone who says “I love lobster” at the checkout in-store will receive a free soup or fountain drink with the purchase of a roll through Friday, Dec. 20, while supplies last.
The Space and Menu
Inside, there is a casual coastal ambiance with a robust menu of traditional recipes. There are five different lobster rolls, including Connecticut-style, a shrimp roll and other entrees like lobster salad and lobster mac n’ cheese.
Any roll can be made a combo by adding a cup of lobster bisque or New England clam chowder. You can also combo up by choosing a side and a drink with your roll or a side and a Maine Root soda.
There is potato salad, cole slaw or Cape Cod chips for sides, and if you have little ones, there is a Nathan’s beef hot dog or grilled cheese.
We checked out the online ordering in Austin, and it looks like each roll will cost about $20. If the lobster is legit as they say it is, that’s not half bad for what looks to be a generously filled lobster roll. We’ll check it out soon and report back.
