LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Councilman David Glasheen announced he will not be seeking reelection to represent central Lubbock.
“I will not seek reelection to the Lubbock City Council because God has answered our family’s prayers and blessed us with a baby on the way,” Glasheen said. “I will not seek any other elected position while I am focusing on growing our family.”
Glasheen only served a partial term after winning an unopposed election when Mark McBrayer moved the mayor’s seat last year. Council members are typically elected to four-year terms.
Current Chairman of the Lubbock County Republican Party David Bruegel announced his candidacy for Lubbock City Council District 3 Wednesday morning.
Glasheen issued an endorsement for David Bruegel.
“As a former volunteer firefighter, Mr. Bruegel has a servant’s heart and a deep understanding of the needs of our first responders. I am confident David Bruegel is the right leader to represent West Texas values on the Lubbock City Council.”
Bruegel says he pledges to fight for limited government, low taxes, safer neighborhoods and accountable city leadership.
Adam Hernandez is also running for District 3. The civic activist is a member of the Lubbock Compact and has previously run for mayor.
These elections are nonpartisan and are scheduled for May.
